Summer 2020 Dance Classes

Our Summer session gives students a chance to continue taking classes and keep their skills fresh! It’s also a great time to try a dance class that you wouldn’t normally take during the school year. We offer dance in the summer Monday thru Thursday.

Combo Week (July 6th thru 9th)

Combo week begins with ballet fundamentals such as across the floor exercises and connecting steps. Ballet/jazz will connect these basics with the upbeat style of jazz movement. In hip hop students will learn basic steps to contemporary funk hip-hop music as well as popular songs. In the modern combo classes, the basics of ballet will be incorporated with the free-flowing movements of modern, in which dancers tell a story with their bodies.

Combo with Tap Week (July 13th thru 16th)

Combo with tap week starts students out with a tap course. New students will be introduced to the fundamentals of tap, while returning tappers will continue to focus on their prior skills and movements. Students will also get introduced to the basics of ballet with floor exercise and connecting steps. Through the jazz class students will warm-up and learn combinations to popular Disney/Broadway songs.

The 5pm class is a good opportunity for students who have already had 1 year of ballet to further their knowledge. Students continue to explore ballet with in-depth barre exercises and across the floor work. In hip hop, students will learn basic steps while keeping count of the beats. Class will incorporate how to stay grounded, how to initiate isolations and fluid transitions. High energy warm-ups and a varied music selection keep things fresh and fun.

Combo w/ Leaps Week (July 27th thru 30th)

Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of ballet in order to achieve graceful movement, core strength and proper posture. In Jazz/Funk students will experience an upbeat class with focus on building flexibility and correct body placement. Leaps, turns, and sequences will help with balance and will fine-tune the dancers' skills in extension and muscle awareness.
